The argens, slow living by the water

Water isn’t always the first thing that comes to mind when picturing Provence. And yet in Correns, the Argens is very much part of the landscape — and part of the experience of staying at Bastide de Basson.

A river just steps away

The Argens rises in the Haut-Var and flows through Correns before continuing on toward the Mediterranean near Fréjus. Where it borders Bastide de Basson, barely 100 metres from the property, its clear waters and shaded banks make it a favourite swimming spot for locals and visitors alike, especially during the summer months.

A setting made for slowing down

Whether it’s a refreshing swim after a day spent touring the vineyards, a late-afternoon walk along the water, or simply a quiet moment with a book under the plane trees, the Argens invites you to slow down — very much in keeping with the spirit of the entire property.

A real asset for families

For family stays, having the river so close by is a real advantage: children can safely paddle in the shallow areas while adults enjoy the surrounding calm. It’s also a lovely spot for a spontaneous picnic between visits around the region.

The river, much like the Bastide’s infinity pool, is one of the spots we recommend to every guest, whatever the season of your stay.
